Interesting. When I joined FB they demanded a verified email address belonging to a university. For lo, I am an old fogey in internet terms. I had to jump through quite a lot of hoops to activate an Oxford alumni email address I'd never otherwise use. Then when they opened it up to everybody they suddenly acquired a massive spam problem! I am pretty certain I wouldn't join FB today if they demanded a mobile number or scans of my ID. Ugh.

Social games are evil in general, because they take advantage of people's politeness. Apparently most people don't play Farmville because they enjoy it, but because it automatically posts saying that their friend needs help fertilizing their crops or whatever, and they don't want to deny their friend a minor favour, so they click, and suddenly Farmville is telling all their friends that just clicking this link could help them etc. But Zynga is particularly nasty with its business practices, its notoriously bad treatment of employees, its cavalier attitude to stealing other people's ideas, and its hard sell tactics. Thoroughly nasty (they have them on LJ as well now, did you know? Another reason I'm glad I left.)

Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
