Ooh, hello, I'm really glad to see you're still around. And do appreciate people having comments on the movie as well as the furniture. I definitely see where you're coming from, and can well see the mutiny scene as commenting on the American problem of excessively violent rogue individuals, thank you for making that connection.

In lots of ways General Shang is ultimately a sympathetic character; I've seen a lot worse yellow peril villains. (I wondered if his name might be a reference to Chiang, but then there are lots of common Chinese surnames that all get similar transcriptions, so it's probably just a coincidence.) I also noticed that they kept the identity of the US President totally vague; you get people talking about "the President issued a statement" but you never get a name or face. Which makes sense in a movie released at the end of 2016, certainly.
