Not sheepish, but individ-ewe-al

I don't exactly mean that I feel I ought to wish for an unlimited number of partners. It's more that there's a whole poly philosophy about not looking for a soulmate and being open to relationship configurations changing as people change. And I sort of believe that, if I thought my current partners were happier without me then I would care more about them being happy than about trying to make them stay with me. But also I feel slightly guilty about really really hoping that won't happen.
Poor groom of your acquaintance!
and I are really lucky that both our parents respect us as independent adults and didn't try to take over the planning of our wedding. My parents had some opinions, but they were opinions and advice based on their extensive experience of planning big simchas. They didn't try to turn the wedding into a power struggle.
I find the symbolism of father-daughter dances a bit odd anyway. I can cope with the father walking his daughter down the aisle, or the father of the bride giving a speech, though we didn't choose to follow those traditions. But the bride having an official show dance with her father (as opposed to just partnering eachother just in the general melee) seems a bit much to me. Especially to a song about lovers separated by death...
