People assuming you're stupid is a really egregious example of sexism. I have pretty much never met anyone who assumes I'm stupid because I'm female, and I'd have expected that you would have met much the same kind of people that I have. I keep being surprised by how much sexism is out there, and assumptions about intelligence are not as distant as one might think from assumptions about sexual availability. Ugh.

But yes, you totally get what I'm trying to say about the climate of fear. I nearly mentioned a princess in my post, because I think this stuff is a way of controlling high-class women who might otherwise have quite a lot of social influence. But I didn't want to get into that class and race stuff, I don't know enough about it and this post was liable to be controversial enough anyway.
