Spoilt for choice

So when I found my Amélie icon, catwithclaws pointed me to a whole collection of alternatives. I hated nearly all of them, except one by sevenages. So the question is, should I change over to this one?

The advantage of the icon I have at the moment is that it's most delightfully mischievous, and it looks like an icon, rather than a random 100x100 crop from a film still. The advantage of the alternative is that Amélie is drinking tea and I definitely need more tea references for my journal. And it's more original in a way.

And I can't decide between them. Yeah, I could have both, but then I'd have this dilemma every time I wanted to make a post! Solution: post a poll and obey the will of the majority.

I definitely go for delightfully mischievous, given this choice. You do after all, have your default icon, the Improbability Drive one, and a teapot on the jumper on your little purple cartoon you icons; I appreciate that you like tea rather a lot, but do you really need five icons making that point ?

I am coming to the conclusion that you are perhaps just the tiniest bit conservative about these things. But I'm not surprised you like the mischievous Amélie icon; the reason why I noticed it in the first place is because it's like the lovely badge you gave me.

Well, the thing is, if I have really lots, it's not redundancy, it's a deliberate theme! But you do have a point, I will admit.

I like the first one better. The second one is, in my opinion, overused and I've grown weary of seeing it on nearly every message board/blog I visit.

Yes, I agree, that's why I'm thinking of changing to one that's more specific to me. Dilemma dilemma. I should get better at making decisions instead of being slavishly ruled by poll results, but it's awfully addictive once you start getting your friends list to make decisions for you!

Oh dear, that's making me think I should switch so you can have the old one! You have more right to Amelie icons than I do, cos it's close to your name.

Except that as oompalumpa points out, it's an image that's all over the place. And darcydodo has an icon very similar to this tea one of mine and that's not a problem.

I love the feeling of the second but the colors of the first work better with your page. I am now thinking that is probably not something that you were intersted in. It doesn't really give me the sense of Amelie that the brighter one does. Maybe it is not either/or but both and keep looking?

And, I really like the icon that cropped up again just now. I do keep thinking there should be a book on the table or maybe there is and I can't see it.

That's a good point. I hadn't considered that angle, because I'll probably keep the icons longer than I keep this particular page layout. But you're right, it does suit my page (that's why I changed to the girl drinking tea for my default, since it's not so garishly purple).

Ah, that's the same comment that blackherring made. I do want something immediately recognizable as Amélie, that's for sure.
