[livejournal.com profile] rysmiel is good at looking after guests. If you want good pastry in the morning, you'll have to walk down to Sherbrooke by yourself, but it's worth it.

You may be pleased to know that blackherring's reaction on seeing my bookies was: I have to go to Montreal!

Yes, definitely pleased; should this reaction become a more choate plan, I should be very happy to meet up with her.

Besides which I absolutely adored The color of light and my considerable enthusiasm convinced blackherring to borrow it today, so she's now equally enthusiastic.

*grin* I do think William Goldman is among the English-language novelists with one of the biggest gaps between ability and recognition. [ Umm, in the lots of a bility and little recognition direction, not the Anne Rice one. ]

Soundbite

Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
