So, somebody brought to my attention that there exists a club for "scientists with luxuriant flowing hair". Can I even resist joining? But they want photographic evidence, so, the question is, does anyone have a (preferably digital) photo of me that shows off my hair? And if so, would you be willing for the LFHCfS people to use a copy of it?

Wow, that is some long, flowing, scientific hair on that website!

*giggle* People in my office have pointed me at that site. Just not got organized with a photo of me (of which there are many) with long flowing hair to actually join the club yet.

In all my photos of you you have your hair plaited.

I love it!

I'd join (my hair is at least a meter long) but there are no recent pictures of my hair (or me, for that matter) and I'm not yet a scientist. D'oh!

I think I might wait until I'm a proper scientist before joining. It'll give me a chance to grow my hair back, too.

Well, see, that would mean having my picture taken and I fear the staring glass eye of the Devourer-of-Souls.

It doesn't devour souls. You only have to look at Holywood's stars to see that.

I'm really not sure what that's supposed to mean... though it does suggest some interesting ramifications. If looking into the camera sucks your soul out, surely it should get spewed back out again, suitably magnified, on watching the big screen. Which makes going to the cinema an intensely religious experience (ObPratchett: Holywood).

And if you had a video camera and television screen connected to it facing each other, a person walking between would trigger a chain reaction based on the laser principle. Though I'm not sure if that would result in the amplification of a single soul to higher and higher levels, or the production of more and more souls.

The former has frightening possibilities for redemption as a weapon -- point the gadget at a single person and they vanish in a puff of transcension. The latter, by contrast, sounds much more benign. It would solve the current mass shortage of souls that results in נשמות endlessly getting recycled, and would enable us all to achieve nirvana in far fewer reincarnations.

Oh, sure.

Holywood stars don't have their souls sucked out, true. No, they just go and provide a dimensional opening for tentacle-faced things with anger issues. Thought you could trip me up, eh? I think not!

Surely any of the pictures from my 21st that Richard took would do. I think the mask you're wearing doesn't matter, as there are clearly pictures there in which the face isn't visible at all.

And I really doubt Richard would mind you using it, but you could always e-mail him!
