Oct. 31st, 2012 04:19 pmYou've all seen the amazingly detailed XKCD with the history of the US government, right? Apart from the fact that it's a really cool data visualization, putting lots and lots of information in a readable visual format. And apart from the fact that it really makes starkly clear the meteoric rise of (automatically classified by voting record) far right politicians in the past couple of decades: I really like having a timeline of significant events and people in US politics all in one place like that.
Along similar lines,
lethargic_man made a graph of Jewish history from Biblical times to the 17th century. The actual purpose of it is to make points about people's patchy knowledge of history, but again, I really like having that visual representation showing what happened when.
Not a timeline, but cool anyway:
janice_lester gives a sample of what TV and films might look like if the media world knew anything at all about disability and wheelchairs: Give sexy actors sexy wheelchairs!. Found via
kate_nepveu, and as she points out, though it's part of
kink_bingo and mentions the word "sexy", it's entirely SFW, though image-heavy.
