That sounds like a fine evening out. When VNV Nation were here in the Spring, it was with a band opening, and didn't run nearly as late (which I was glad of, though I overheard quite a few people afterward discussing where to go dancing next).
The "spotlight on wheelchair user" may be partly about it being good and still noteworthy to be in a venue that makes it reasonably possible for people in wheelchairs to attend. I didn't see anyone in a wheelchair at Irving Plaza, and I don't know if there is wheelchair access: patrons are sent up a long flight of stairs from the entryway to the concert/dance floor.
