Great sympathies. (My apartment is nearly as cold sometimes, and it embarrasses and depresses me as well. I know where you're coming from.) My building's heating system is quite old, so we've invested in small space heaters and electric blankets, but as others have said, it sounds like there's a problem here that your landlord might be able to fix? Or should at least know about?
