Ugh, poor Australia, it always seemed worth hoping that the digital revolution would overcome the very real obstacles to delivery of physical goods, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
I don't know if pirates spend more than non-pirates universally, though it wouldn't surprise me. I know there are some pirates who are copying music for the sake of it, rather than because they actually want to listen to music. Like, they want to get good ratings on file-sharing sites by adding thousands of tracks or being the first to crack the DRM on a new release. Those people are never going to spend money on music anyway, so they're more or less irrelevant to the industry. But it does make sense that people need to hear music first before they decide to buy it; it's hard to imagine that serious music buyers spend hours listening to 30-second or poor quality samples in order to discover new music!
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
