I think in this case it's the committee of the Tolkien Society. emperor was on it some while ago, and there was some Unpleasantness affecting him and at least one other person I talked to at some length at Eastercon this year (although not about what happened -- I know no details, merely that there seem to be several very nice people who are still very unhappy about whatever it was).
