That does surprise me slightly; it's a fairly major commercial enterprise, I'd think they would have decent security. Of course nothing is 100% safe, even if there is a big company behind it! I'm basically just relying on my firewall. Skype, for example, used to be absolutely awful for trying to backdoor stuff onto your computer, but enough of my friends use it (in preference to any of the other VoIP services) that I was willing to accept the risk.
