Yeah, it's possible that FB wouldn't accept vegetarian restaurants run by non-Jews. It was more of an illustration of the general problem that although Manchester has a reputation for a great place for vegetarians, I've never actually found an explicitly veggie restaurant there. I think I did go to one veggie place with [personal profile] syllopsium years ago, but it was more of a café than a place you'd actually go for a sit-down meal. After all I'm practically vegetarian myself, and although I'm not bothered about the kashrut of eating hot veggie meals in treif places, I still do better in actually vegetarian establishments rather than meaty places that palm me off with some pasta and tomato sauce. Plus my fiancé is strictly vegetarian, and I have several close friends (you, [personal profile] hadassah and [personal profile] hatam_soferet, for example) who keep more strictly kosher than I do.

The problem I've had with Happy Cow in the past is that the information tends to be incomplete and badly out of date. If I'm looking for somewhere to eat, I want a directory that's been updated within the last six months, otherwise there's too high a probability that I'll turn up to the listed place only to find that it's closed. Happy Cow tends to be about 2 to 3 years old, and it isn't very good at sorting out UK places from American ones in towns with similar names. I'm willing to give it another try, especially since I'm trying to get away from Google anyway.
