Anonymous valentines and secret crushes freak me out a bit, probably due to exposure to Far from the madding crowd at an impressionable age. But I think you're right, I think that's what Valentine's Day used to be about, but that would be much harder to commercialize than telling everyone that they must buy their partner expensive gifts or at least flowers and chocolates. I do very much like sometimes love isn't easy and people pine and don't know how to say things and that sometimes people are much fonder of you than you know they are – I could definitely get behind that conception of Valentine's Day!
