Not completely out of the question, no, and I know they do have a bit of a reputation for more durable hardware. Right now it feels like a Mac is almost the worst of all words: an OS that I'm unfamiliar with and which tends to flashy shiny effects and being entertainment centred, and compatibility problems with my work colleagues as well as software I use for fun, and being locked in to someone else's closed proprietary ecosystem, and a rather more expensive for the same specs. Those are partly real downsides, and partly rationalizing the prejudices I've held against Apple's way of looking at the world since the days when it was a choice between an Archimedes and an Apple ][.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
