No, I completely agree that Microsoft isn't actually better or easier or in any way superior to the alternatives. It's just a market share issue, because so many people use Windows, everything is designed for Windows. Even something as basic as a website that needs a plug-in, I can download and install the relevant tool without even having to think about it. I've added a whole bunch of peripherals that didn't come with the computer, a printer, an external drive, various dongles for different bits of kit, and it's all just happened. On my Linuxy netbook, I have to faff around Quacking for a forum to tell me what I need to install to be able to do what I want to do, and the updater / installer thing seems to be temperamental, and I have to run stuff from the command line with the appropriate incantation to get things to install with settings that actually work. It's not difficult, it's just a faff.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
