Yes, I think this is a really useful point. At the moment, when we're both employed and generally have fairly cushy lives, it really doesn't matter that we're married, so I can kind of forget about the financial impact of that. There's a few little things; I essentially benefit from the fact that jack runs a car, and it's quite a bit cheaper for two people to travel as a couple than for two single people. The main difference is that we do have a huge stability advantage that if one of us fell on hard times the other could support them, so I think it's fair to say that we are genuinely better off than two single people on our sort of income.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
