Based on the authors listed in your profile, I wonder if you've read any Jacqueline Carey? Her Kushiel's dart is very flawed in some ways, but the things it does well are I think things that might appeal to you. If you like LKH I assume that explicit kinky sex isn't a problem for you, but if I'm wrong in that then, um, don't read Carey and I will think of something else.
