Thank you, this is super-helpful. OK, I should try to compact the sugar a bit more when I'm next measuring things by volume, very good to know. Also the fact that I'm not supposed to try to dissolve the sugar in the fat, in general.

I like it's only a home cake, I might borrow that :-)
