Heh, lots of my friends are friends with LP, but I haven't managed to meet her yet, so I can only judge by her internet persona. I think you're right, she's intelligent but often rushed and not as thoughtful as she could be.

And yes, maybe you're right that starting from CYP rules out the possibility of anyone ever reflecting on other perspectives and deciding that they're still correct after all. Or even if they do, people are going to come back to them with the accusation that they haven't checked their privilege enough, which is just another variation on "if you really understood the issue you'd agree with me."
