Really glad you're ok. I think part of what this conversation is doing is that it's changing the social expectation, so that if someone does report sexual harassment, the done thing is to support them, not to shun them or go digging for any possible or imagined flaws they may have. Some people will go against the social norm, of course, but lots won't, so I think there's real value in making it clear that the social expectation is that you should be supportive, not close ranks against the victim.

It could well be that a false accusation in some ways does more harm to a woman than a man. People sort of sympathize with men who are trying to get attention and / or sex from attractive women and maybe crossed a line with being too pushy, but women get substantially reduced status from being seen as aggressively sexual. This is kind of a horrible comparison, but men who prey on very young children, severely disabled women and the elderly are often portrayed as monsters, sickos, perverts etc in the media. Whereas men who sexually assault teenage girls and women of their own age are much more likely to be defended, because to some extent it's expected that men will be sexually aggressive towards the sorts of women who are assumed to be sexual beings.
