Yes, I think the Shatterdome made sense and it was clear that they were desperately keeping the last few robots running on scraps from what went before. But that doesn't explain Hong Kong. Where is the resource to maintain all those shiny skyscrapers? Who's generating the power for all those bright lights? Especially if HG is right next to the Breach, how come the city has survived decades of monster attacks intact?
