That's a cool parable, thank you for describing that to me. I think it doesn't quite match my idea about God; for me a dish-god would have to have at least made the dishwasher and the dishes to start with, and probably have something to do with the power that keeps the dishwasher running and the chemistry that means the soap and shine stuff and vinegar work to get the dirt off the dishes. But I like your analogy for how to conceptualize a universe which has both God and consistent physical laws.
