These are absolutely great examples, yes. It's absolutely right that not all relationships are equal, family members are more important than random internet or work acquaintances, so it's worth putting more effort into dealing with your differences and perhaps concluding that you're just never going to agree so you should drop the topic. Also, health things like your example are important, but perhaps not as important as addressing and hopefully combating racism. You're willing to make a fuss in the workplace about racist jokes, but not about homoeopathy. But you're also not willing to pretend to be in favour of awful bullshit anti-scientific treatments just to reduce social friction, which seems like a really fair compromise.
