Thank you for being so supportive, both now and throughout the process. I think in the end I feel mostly good that I got what I wanted: the asking price for the house, if not as quickly as I'd have liked at least before we needed the money to buy future!house. I feel a bit like the buyers have kind of got away with something by being more hard-nosed and less scrupulous than me, and that in general I don't want to reward that kind of thing. But as you say, it doesn't really matter.
