Sympathy. I am one of the youngest faculty anyway, and I look young for my age, and there is no way that any amount of career advantage would motivate me to cut my thigh-length hair, so yes, I'm going to be taken for a kid until I'm grey. I've tried clothes with more tailoring than I'd normally go for, and it helps a bit, but only a very little bit.
