People do exactly that kind of split for megafielding - I read something recently where they arranged to field the three highest peaks in the UK, which involved running a link right through the middle of Glasgow, and that kind of thing needs somebody in a war room coordinating things. I'm not sure how interesting it would be if you weren't playing conventionally as well, though.
