Yes, this is the real problem, whether it's a good idea to keep on voting for a good MP who persists in belonging to a party who at national level have no principles. And I can't even blame him for it, I think he's right to calculate that he can do more good in the party picking the things he's willing to rebel for, than as an independent. One advantage of voting Lib Dem is that they've tended to be a lot more use in opposition than either Labour or Conservative. So if my prediction is right and we end up with Labour having the largest minority of seats, and Labour continue their track record of being dicks and refusing to negotiate meaningfully about coalitions, then we get Lib Dems in opposition, possibly with other parties who may be willing to back them on some issues if we end up with a messy hung parliament. And I think I'd probably like the LDs better and in a way they'd have more power in that scenario than when they're in the ruling coalition.
