Thank you, this is really helpful advice. I knew some of it but not all. The posh tents had camp beds, so we weren't sleeping directly on the floor. And we had light "fleece" blankets over the sleeping bags, but I don't think they were big enough to wrap right round. I did wear socks and a sweater over my nightclothes, which helped, but I didn't remember pyjama bottoms since when I'm not camping I don't normally wear pyjamas, rather nightdresses. It was an especially cold night for July, I think the temperature dropped below 10°C, which is not winter cold but it's on the low side for British summer.
I think for both camping and music festivals generally, it's not that I don't like them, it's that I don't really want to make them a priority for fairly limited leisure time.
