Yes, I agree that Bennett's humour is always pretty dark, and at his best he manages sad rather than just bitter. It may be that I'm just over-sensitive to a certain kind of cringeyness; several people who are compassionate and not liable to laugh at anyone for being old and mad and poor enjoyed the film more than I did.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
