Yeah, it was almost a joke in the Lego movie to the point where I thought they WOULD have Wildstyle save the day. Initially I was excited when Wildstyle was at least dating Batman*, and so could be potentially discounted as a romantic possibility for Emmett - but instead we got the message that ordinary men who are "good" and have feels should displace different but "asshole guys" men.
(*even if that depiction of Batman was kind of a jerk - I mean at least he's Batman and has a number of superhero skills!)
It has been awhile since I watched Ratatouille, but I enjoyed both films as well for the reasons you describe. :)
