Yeah, I am actually seeing this as an unfortunate corollary of the current trend of fiction including competent female characters: stories include female characters who are better than the heroes at EVERYTHING (Hermione Granger, Wildstyle, Colette) but they are not the hero, and you know that they never WILL be the hero, and the effect is that all this fiction hammers home "Girls can not be the hero, no matter how good they are at things."
