Thank you, this is really helpful. I've been long using an app (GreenPower - recommended!) that turns off all the connectivity when I'm not actually using it, and until a couple of weeks ago I was getting good battery life. I'm pretty certain that what I'm seeing is battery failure, not a software problem. On a clean restart, with no apps running in the background, I'm running it flat in half an hour of nothing more than using a browser to read mostly text-based stuff like DW, which previously was very gentle on the battery. And when it's totally idle, with 3G and WiFi and BlueTooth and GPS and the screen light and everything turned off, it's barely lasting 3-4 hours whereas previously I'd get easily 12-15 hours of idle time. But it's a really good idea to look at software issues before I rush out and buy a new phone!
