My Überboss, today:
I think they just need some intellectual cuddles, really.
I think that is a concept with a lot of potential. In fact, I think I shall make it the title of my friends page.

Yes, definitely a concept to keep, at any of the couple of levels it suggests to me [ that of exchanging concepts in a cosy and pleasing fashion, and that of having an intelligent conversation while hugging someone. ]

I like intellectual cuddles. Not the kind where people just say {{{{{{HUGGLES}}}}} because it feels a bit tacky and doesn't do all that much for me, but the concept in itself, I like it.

See, this is exactly the advantage of intellectual cuddles. If you were to give me physical cuddles, I'd be a bit, hm, don't really know this guy all that well, what's he up to? But intellectual cuddles are wholly a positive thing!

Well, the way Boss D intended the remark was that these people were feeling unconfident about their intellectual ability and their career future and stuff, and they need the intellectual equivalent of a nice, reassuring cuddle. But for me, the phrase definitely has the sort of semantic halo that rysmiel defines above.

Well, just as sex is very different from cuddles, the intellectual analogues of the same are different too.

I don't think we invented the concept, dear. At least, I hope we didn't! Admittedly we took the metaphor and ran several miles with it. And it might be argued that our chevruta group that was somewhat... tangled in the literal sex plane. Um, yes well.

Well, it involves two people (usually), it's fun, it can be very intimate, when it's good it makes you feel really close to your partner, there's all kinds of different ways to go about it, I for one really miss it when I'm not getting any...
