Thank you! It's strange to be re-encountering the old grief; I didn't really know the murdered student, not personally, I'd met him a couple of times. But it was such a big deal to me and my friends as young adults that there was a gay man only a few years older than us who was training to be a rabbi, and when he was killed, it was a seismic event, several people I knew who were just tentatively starting to find ways to be out and proud as LGBT Jews went straight back into the closet when we heard. And of course it matters more that his human life was ended by violence, not what he symbolized.
I am really fortunate to have so much good support, including here on my journal.
