I think you would probably cope ok with Mr Rosenblum's list. It's entirely set after the protagonist and his wife arrive in England, and there's a thread running through of the wife being sad that she'll never see her family again, whereas Mr R tries to put all that out of his mind. But there's absolutely no detail at all about what happened to the family back in Germany, just that the relatives aren't around any more.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
