liv: ribbon diagram of a p53 monomer (p53)
[personal profile] liv
Today I formally committed myself, with a signature, no less, to a viva date: 9th May. I am quite incapable of imagining that my thesis will be done and printed and bound a month before that, but I guess it'll have to be.

Do not underestimate the power of deadlines.

And good luck!

Good luck! I know my MSc dissertation was much less major (and had a fixed deadline), but I never thought I'd make it but I did (a matter of days before my birthday at that). I'm sure you'll manage it. Just don't take on any replacement manatees... ;) Good luck again.

You can always get printing and binding done as a rush job if you pay enough, just start saving.

Firstly: hurrah!
Secondly: a month? I'm not anticipating a viva for at least six of the blighters.

I had a month between my handing in and my viva. It's probably different for arts Ph.D.s.

Congratulations! Or oh, horror!
The best of luck in either case.

I handed in September of 1998 and had my viva... can't remember when, now, I think it was February 1999. For a bioinformatics PhD.

Yes, but IIRC that was a deliberate choice on your part, to go travelling in the interim. ISTR also asking you at the time you were certain you were going to be able to remember all the details of your Ph.D. by the time you came back.

Soundbite

Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
