So, you know that old joke about How do hedgehogs make love? Well, this evening there were a pair of them in my garden doing just that, and I can report that they don't appear to mind about the prickles. They were quite noisy, too (obviously not reminding me of anyone I know). I've always been curious about what sounds hedgehogs make, but I don't know if this sound, somewhere between a squeak and a grunt really, was their normal sound or related to that particular activity.

I would normally ask permission before watching, but, well, they chose the spot right outside my window (if I had been prudishly inclined, I could easily have thrown cold water over them, they were that close). And besides, they're hedgehogs.

Hee.

Tee hee. Especially humerous as I saw Wyrd Sisters in the theatre last night and they ended with a rendition of 'The Hedgehog Could Never Be Buggered At All'.

Yes, I think it fair to say I would not bestir myself greatly over questions of hedgehog delicacy. (It it had been two a.m. the pan of water would have been summarily flung.)

Every time K. and I wlk home on a rainy night, we are confronted by copulating animals. Frogs, moths, slugs, ad recently the sound of foxes. I suspect that we are some kind of carrier.

It has become a source of embarrassment.

I could never, ever, bring myself to throw cold water on a couple whoopee-making hedgehogs. It would be wrong.

I remember seeing a couple of pigs up close, after I'd cycled up an impressively steep hill on an amazingly hot day, and the sight and soud extravaganza made me think about losing my lunch. Having said that, I still think it's wrong to inflict my old-maidishness on a couple of God's porking creatures.

Wee! When we were in dry semidesert in Sotuh Africa I remember hearing a really loud screechy noise coming from behind some bushes, and there were these two tiny tortoises.. I had no idea tortoises could make such noise! (or any noise, for that matter)
