It's definitely a joke. It's not exactly a fake blog because some real person is composing and posting those entries. But it's a joke, and it's such an appalling one that I felt I had to share it. I think I didn't make it clear enough that I'm only horrified at the awfulness of the joke, not really horrified because I'm taking it seriously.
I think it's a fantastic idea for a blog, I just think the current authour is probably the wrong one to be doing it and that the idea's been poorly carried off. But it's not a bad idea in and of itself.
exactly. it's tasteless and looks like it was done by a 14 year old, but if it had been done seriously and intelligently, perhaps by someone who has studied the text in depth and has something new to say about it, then i'd probably be fascinated.
Maybe, it's my sick sense of humour, but I thought it was quite funny. In poor taste, but funny. Obviously her supposed anti-gay rant shows her ignorance towards Midrash (if she is Jewish), but in an odd, cyber-punk way, this is Midrash in its own right.
Why did you find it so offensive? Maybe I am missing something?
Oh, I'm not pissed off or anything. I just think it's badly written. Didn't go nearly as far or as deep or as interesting as it could have... and yeah, I have issues with the blanket statement that the residents of Sodom were homosexuals... I think you know my stance on that.
*shrug* I really just think I could have done it better.
I'm not offended offended. I'm just boggled at the idea that someone sat there and thought, wouldn't it be cool to write a blog as if I were Lot's daughter, and actually went through with it and posted it on the internet...
It is a kind of midrash, yes, and I'm pretty sure reading through that the author is Jewish. I don't even think it's particularly homophobic; given the context, it could be a lot worse. It's clear that the problem with Sodom is not that the inhabitants were "gay", but that they liked raping guests. And the blog author likes making dumb jokes about anal sex.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.

I just went mad for a second.

Is it the homophobia thing?

(It's just that American popular humour often seems to revolve around anal sex).
If worked out better, it could be a cool/original idea.
How are you, by the way?
