I have pupils! And they are the best sort, full of enthuiasm and generally wonderful. I didn't realized how much I'd missed teaching until the bar mitzvah class happened to me.

I have a DRESS! Just the most amazing thing I have ever owned, an orange silk two-piece. My heartfelt thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ploni_bat_ploni for helping me with the shopping, everything from steering me away from shiny purple things that were otherwise unsuitable, to reminding me that I can't wear plain black lace-ups with a dress this formal.

The reason I needed the dress is because my cousin J is getting married on Saturday. I am heading to England very briefly to attend the wedding, and while I am there I shall get my hair cut and dyed auburn again. The downside is that I have hundreds of things to do before my flight leaves and not enough hours left for both sleeping and preparing everything.

I shall do my best to get some photos taken of me in the DRESS, and I shall be back on Sunday evening.

At first I read your first sentence and thought eyes, not people. Which doesn't make any sense unless you're secretly Little Orphan Annie (http://www.psu.edu/dept/inart10_110/inart10/gif%20annie.GIF).

could I please borrow [livejournal.com profile] ploni_bat_ploni for an afternoon? My dress shopping crisis is not getting any better and the wedding is 28 April. Help. Do we get to see photos of you in dress? *bounces hopefully*

dress sounds marvellous. am happy for you! and yay for enthusiastic students.
bat - i didn't comment on your dress distress post since it was a while ago and many did - but would you like a helping hand/eye? are you even in the country? we may even be similar sizes so you could come over and try things-you-wouldn't-normally-wear on or we could go shopping?

I was away from email in Hawaii and have only just got back; would you still be up for it? The specific wedding I was worrying about is tomorrow so its a bit late for that, but my wardrobe would very much appreciate your assistance :)

Well, it was an absolute pleasure to help you! And that yummie hot milk with chocolate syrup and ground cinnamon topping with whipped cream contraption that we had at the end of our shopping spree was simply delightful!

And I am VERY VERY pleased with my Belated Birthday Present from you: modest trousers! w00t!

I think we were extremely successful, right up to the pretty shoes from the bargain bin (your stroke of genius) to match the dress, and I am sure you will look gorgeous: at your cousin's wedding and at mine. *bounces*

Auburn hair will go beautifully with the DRESS!

I *love* shopping. Not necessarily because I want to spend and overindulge (although a bit of that too, damn it! If I could afford it... hehehe) but because for me, it's a creative act of assemblage. It's like cooking, or flower arranging, or whatever. I love beautifying things around me, and shopping allows one to plan and purchase stuff the beautifies, harmonises and accessorises your self or your house or whatever. I dunno: I have a "thing" for beautiful fabrics, colours, tones, precious metals and stones and for combining all these elements into something that will bring out the natural beauty in a person.

Funny that is: when I started tzniut, my focus shifted away from the body to the clothing itself. I wasn't so eager to emphasise my nakedness or sensuality, so paying closer attention to fabrics, colours and accessories came naturally.

Darn it, I should have become a fashion designer, just as I wanted as a little girl. But noooo, I am becoming a rabbi instead. Sheesh.

Never mind the quote from Koheleth (Ecclestiastes) about women, vanity and fear of G-d. It doesn't apply to me :-)

Anyway, to make a long story short: enjoy your beautiful gear and have a ball at the wedding... just don't outshine the bride! ;-) Quite a faux-pas! :-P

P.S. I want a FULL report on the wedding when you get back, especially on the bride! Hee-hee.
