Things you should read

The beautiful:
rho on rain and wonder. I couldn't write it as poetically as she does, but yes, that's how I feel about science too, and it's the nearest thing I get to spirituality. (I have a houseguest staying with me at the moment who wants me to talk about my feelings about God and my spiritual situation, and I'm just too squirmy. She says I'm very cerebral, which is true. But I can get sort of emotional about the kind of stuff that
rho describes.)
The political:
katieastrophe explains some economic home truths to Boris Johnson. I liked the idea that the Conservatives were proposing about "Big Society" and encouraging grass-roots, volunteer projects; it needs to be implemented in a practically realistic way to be any good at all, and I'm not confident that's happening as I'd like.
The personal:
yuki_onna persuades male readers to talk about orgasms. Absolutely fascinating reading; NSFW, though her commenters respected her request not to be porny and it's text only. Seeing these anecdotes further confirms my belief that there's at least as much variation in sexuality within sexes as between men and women. Also, describing what a sensation feels like is notoriously hard, but some people are very poetic, and some people are very conscious of how their body works, and some are just really good at describing. Even if you don't garner an understanding of what orgasm actually feels like to a person who isn't you, it's still really interesting to hear about related aspects of how people experience sex. I feel all tender and affectionate towards male physiology now.
