Congratulations!

wildeabandon and
obandsoller on getting married, and holding the most beautiful wedding to reach that state.
I think that was the first wedding we'd been to as a quad, which made me feel ever so fuzzy and romantic. (And it nearly didn't happen, because the grooms followed correct etiquette in sending separate invitations to separate households, and mine and
jack's physical invitation got lost, so it was only when we saw an email chase for RSVPs that we realized we were in fact invited.)
Another thing that was pleasing was that the dress code was "fabulous", so I took it as the first opportunity to wear my own wedding dress again. Or at least part of it, I decided I couldn't cope with travelling across London in a ridiculous princess skirt, so I just wore the corset over trousers.
jack was very patient at re-learning how to put on a corset and helping me to get dressed in the morning. I also borrowed a really weddingy hat from my mother, who is much more of a hat person than I am. And
jack wore his exciting purple tailcoat, and
cjwatson his kilt and
ghoti_mhic_uait found an amazing purple dress and sparkly shoes. And Judith had rainbow hair and Andreas a brilliantly dapper shirt with dinosaurs, so we were very pretty indeed, but blended well into a congregation who were even more dressed up than us.
There was a really sweet service in
wildeabandon's church in north London. Some pointed hymns about unfairly attributing zeal instead of kindness to God, and the vicar being really regretful that she could only bless the union rather than properly marry the couple. (The actual marriage ceremony had taken place the week before in a different denomination that does perform same-sex marriages.) My OSOs were in the choir, which meant the children sat with me during the service and I had to answer all the questions about why an Anglican service is different from the Catholic service they are used to. Lots of lovely music, and people close to the couple having various ritual roles, just perfect really.
And then the reception was just the most delightful party ever. They'd managed to book a restored Victorian music hall right off Cable St, so magnificently East End Queer, just being there was an experience. Plus nearly all the guests were people I've known for years including some I hadn't seen in far too long. So we got to catch up with lots of lovely people who were feeling good about wearing their best clothes. There was dancing, and good food, and children tearing around, and tiny babies in slings, and it was generally perfect.
