GIP: Amélie

I'm not really much of a fangirl generally, but one thing I do want to show my appreciation for is the film Amélie. I've poked around LJ looking for icons, but I never found anything that really grabbed me, just a lot of not-quite-right (and often unnecessarily animated) screencaps. Until today, when I saw aemilia_parker commenting in a friend's (locked) journal with this one. I don't otherwise know aemilia_parker, but she was happy for me to snag the icon.

Tautou is famous enough that no-one's going to mistake this for a picture of me, right? This image is also similar to one that's on a badge that rysmiel gave me a while back, which is probably another reason why I was drawn to it.

Wow, thanks for those. Someone has really put a lot of effort into organizing memories! I think most of them have exactly the issue that I found when I was looking myself: they're over-Photoshopped. I don't want an icon that screams out 'look at me, I know how to use layers and filters and brushes!' I like some of this set, because they're nice and simple, cleaner than most somehow. I still prefer this one but I might at some point use the one of her drinking tea, since I have a lot of tea-themed icons anyway so it would fit in.

You may enjoy her. She's a very independent woman, but not overtly feminist -- rather, perfectly willing to stand up for herself on her own terms, rather than needing an ideology to stand behind -- very well educated, very insightful.

She's much more extroverted than your introversion, but I think you may like her. :)

Woah. You perceive me as an introvert?! I've been described as all kinds of things, but never that. I think of extroversion as probably one of my most defining characteristics. Gosh.

(And I assume you're talking about aemilia_parker here, right?)

Smart aleck. Perhaps what I see as introversion is just really caution. You tend not to share your judgements on things. Whereas I spout out opinions, anecdotes, rhetoric at every opportunity. :)

I just finished watching Amélie. Actually, I was planning to watch it for a couple of weeks or so now, but when you mentioned it, I decided to give it a shot. I can only say it's a beautiful movie. Only annoying thing is that I had to read the English subtitles, and I hate having to do that.

I just wish a person like this would really exist! She's .. charming.

I like it. Not quite so much as I like the one asterisms uses, but I could not find a badge that matched that either. *smile* in honour of all this, I had creme brulee after lunch yesterday. Excellent it was, too, possibly the second best I have ever had.
