Yay, tea! Thank you for the lovely welcome. And *iconlove*!
I've actually been around for a while, but doing stuff behind the scenes, not using the journal. I thought it was unfair to start the move when the site was still closed to most new accounts, so now we're launched I'm here for real.
Hello there. I don't know if you've noticed, but I'd subscribed to your journal during closed beta...I thought it polite to leave a comment now that you're settling in properly.
I've been lurking around your LJ for about a year, I stumbled across it by chance, found it very interesting and stayed mainly for the lovely book posts and the eclectic mix of topics you post about.
Now that DeeWee has implemented the beautiful W-T-F split I can finally add you without being too much of a bother. :)
Ooh, cool, how lovely to meet you. I wondered who you were when you added me, and I'm very flattered to know that you've been lurking on my LJ before now. I hope you go on enjoying the continuation here. And yay WTF split!
Oh, you're completely right. I happen to like fiddling around with my journal system, it's a good procrastination activity for me. But there is a huge inertial barrier against moving, I do realize that. That's why if you're basically happy with LJ, it's not going to help much that Dreamwidth is better, because it's not likely to be enough better to justify the effort of moving. But at the same time, I'm not going to stay on a site where I'm no longer happy forever just because moving is a pain.
Well, I have no imminent plans to move, but if Dreamwidth offers the ability to view both my LJ and my DW flists on a single page, that would make it worth using DW as my sole reading interface.
My new journal has turned into an instant tea party, yay! Very glad to see that OpenID worked for you, because a lot of work has gone in to make it usable.
oh, you've actually moved! yay! *hands you a dreamsheep as housewarming gift*.
i am not moving yet because too much of my LJ flist would be pissed off, which is not the effect i am looking for. so i am crossposting for the time being.
but i will move later this year once DW has more inter-site features up, when i can read my LJ flist from here.
Thank you for this touching enthusiasm! I decided to hold off moving until people had a reasonable chance of joining if they wanted to, because otherwise it seems like really annoying gloating. I think I have pissed off some people even making an effort to be as civil as possible about the move, but I've been impatient to come over here for months now, so this was the best compromise I could manage.
Dreamsheep, yay. I've left one of my precious few icon slots free so I can put a dreamsheep there, but I'm going to have to pick one carefully. Have you seen any sheep that have tea? It'll be doubly appropriate as my offline name is Rachel, hence all the ewe puns and occasional sheep imagery.
Miscellaneous. Eclectic. Random. Perhaps markedly literate, or at least suffering from the compulsion to read any text that presents itself, including cereal boxes.
