Roll your own compliments

This is based on an idea I got from jpallan. It's a bit like one of those memes where the poster gives everyone compliments, only in reverse: you get to pick your own compliment! Radios, not ticky boxes, cos I'm mean like that.

I may or may not actually tell you whether you're right, and I may or may not get round to writing more individualized and specific compliments. I do genuinely like all of you though; I don't have anyone on my friends list who isn't there for some reason!

That's tough. And I don't usually keep track of why different people find me interesting enough to get to know. I don't even always know why I like the people I like. But I liked this one more than Jessica's, because I felt I had better options. Still hard though. And it doesn't really matter which things different people like about me. I think it's better if different aspects appeal to different people, because then it's more like the whole me is useful and appreciated.

Oh, you're absolutely right there. It's good to think of yourself and like yourself as a whole person, if that's psychologically possible for you.

This is good, cos I do try to make a point of telling people how much I like them. Properly, as well as playing silly with LJ posts.

*hug* It does not bother me in the least to accept that you really like me, that is something I greatly value and appreciate.

I'm not at all sure why, but the way this is set up - that one is supposed to pick one's own compliment - goes over some emotional line for me into feeling like taking you for granted, and I'm not comfortable there. This is my reaction and my problem entirely.

Ugh, I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable. It was just an expression of general goodwill, and I thought it would be less likely to cause offence and drama than some versions of this sort of meme.

I shall have to find other ways to express appreciation for you, which doesn't seem too difficult.
